Why a damaged panel matters

Your garage door is made of horizontal sections, also called panels. Panels are made of steel, aluminum, wood or glass. They let the door move along the tracks and fold away overhead.

Weather, accidents and normal wear damage panels over time. A dented or sagging panel can stop the door from running smoothly. It can also make it easier for a thief to get into your garage.

We keep replacement panels for many door brands and models in stock. When we can match your door, the repair looks like the damage never happened.

Replace a panel or the whole door?

A new panel usually makes sense when

The door is less than 15 years old, the damage is on one or two sections, and the panel is still made in your color.

A new door is usually the better value when

The door is more than 15 years old, or large areas are bent or sagging. A custom door, or a panel that is no longer made, also points to a new door.

How a panel replacement works

1

Inspect and measure

We look at the damage, measure the door and identify the brand and model.

2

Written estimate

We give you the price for new panels, and for a new door when that is the better value. You decide.

3

Replace and test

We install the panels, check the balance and test the door before we leave.

Garage door panel questions

Should I replace one panel or the whole door?

It depends on the age and condition of the door. Choose a new door if the door is more than 15 years old or is a custom door. A new door is also the better choice when large areas are bent or sagging.

Is a panel replacement faster than a new door?

Sometimes. If your panel is in stock in your color, we can often replace it the same day. If we must order the panel or have it painted, it can take several weeks, about the same time as a new door.

How much does a panel replacement cost?

The price depends on the brand, model and color of your door, and on the labor. Some panels are quick to replace. Others require us to take apart most of the door. You get the price in writing first.

Can I buy a single garage door panel?

Yes. We recommend a panel from the same manufacturer as your door, so it matches. We measure the door, order the panel and install it on your schedule.
